The UAE government has given approval for the establishment of the National Human Rights Authority. The paramount focus of the authority will be the protection of human rights not only at the regional level but also at an international level as confirmed by Top Lawyers of Dubai. The mechanism which will be adopted to administer the authority will be the Paris Principles for the National Human Rights Institutions; it was also adopted by the United Nations.
According to the plan laid down by the government, the authority will act independently for developing an efficacious network with the individuals as well as the institutions all over the world, with the aim of uplifting the vulnerable segments of the society. The independence given to the authority is of financial as well as administrative nature with respect to the tasks they have to carry out. This authority will provide evidence to the efforts on the part of the UAE to protect the human rights as well as to promote the mechanism to safeguard the rights of the women, children, laborers, the elderly and the vulnerable.
The new UAE National Human Rights Plan which was launched on the occasion of the International Human Rights Day, i.e. on 10th December, 2020 revolves around the focal point to strengthen the legislative system which will eventually lead to the safeguarding and protection of the civil and political rights of the people of the UAE. A draft has been prepared for the same.
Another aim on which the plan focuses is to provide strength to the efforts of the UAE and emphasizes on the measures it has taken with respect to not only regional commitments but also with international commitment. A process has been underscored in order to develop an institutional framework for Human Rights.
The plan is characterized as an advisory process that will take approximately seven months to come into action. The National Human Rights Committee is said to exploit the advantage which is posed to them in the form of successfully combating the global pandemic situation. The UAE government has appropriated its endeavor to expedite most of the matters of about 200 nationalities. It has regarded itself as the precursor in handing over to its nationals the best conditions to endure the unprecedented situation. This is not all, the government has not only made sure about the safety of the nationals during the pandemic but also has taken care of the expatriates who have stayed back in the country.
The initial step of the plan involves the scrutinizing of the affirmative aspects of the human rights , especially in the UAE. Following this, the next step will be an advisory step, whereby consultation will be sought to be taken from the civil society institution in the UAE and a mechanism of the community dialogue will be launched that will be inclusive of universities, academic institutions as well as the public. The main aim of the same will be to involve more and more people in the development of the human rights mechanism in order to upkeep the interest of the general public.
The plan is aimed to come into execution by the end of the third quarter of 2021. the main objective of the plan will be to not only promote the human rights but also to promote the matters of the litigation, education, women, employment, health, people of determination
