In my column in The National newspaper, I answer several questions including one from a reader who does not live in the UAE but whose ex-husband – and father of her child – does. I explain she is entitled to travel to the UAE to file a case for child support against her former husband, as long as the child was born during a marriage that is deemed to be valid under UAE law. I also explain child support cases are separate from any divorce cases and that it is possible to claim child support without the need to also file for divorce.
